As per Friday’s post here, I wanted to share a small space that is special to me. It’s a cozy little corner in our bedroom, dedicated to sitting with one’s feet up, in arm’s reach of a book or two.
The chair was something we picked up at Ikea and we were so happy it came with a little ottoman. The bookshelf was a piece that was left in our laundry room when we moved in. It used to be a dark green, but it was one of my first painting projects after CJ was born. It took about 3 coats of primer and 2 coats of a semi-gloss super white, but I was really convinced it would fit in here, so I wanted to freshen it up to make JD see that too. It may be only temporary in some sense, but I’m already thinking it could look great in an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint finish. Haha. Anyone else? (Not Antibes Green though.) The books are a hodgepodge collection of What to Expect pregnancy and children’s books, there are some Austen hidden with this area, as well as some of the Harvard classics JD and I are attempting to read through for the rest of our lives. I keep a wedding memory box, some family-centric figurines and some fun tins here too. And of course, a nice little place to set a cup of tea.
So here is my little zen corner:
And here is some of the artwork that I love looking at, at any part of the day when I’m in this room:
I enjoy this little corner and am glad we had some square-footage to do it!
Anyone else have a space that they call their own? A nook in a living room? A corner in a dining room? A space in the basement? What do you add to make it special?

Looks great! Hope you can enjoy quiet time.
