Actually, my cheesy and old school reference to the MTV show Cribs probably doesn’t apply here – as there is no literal crib in this room anymore. Huzzah, CJ’s room is finished and only his (Bob’s) big boy bed remains!
So, here it goes, all of its components put together and ready to be seen: CJ’s room is done…like a turkey on Thanksgiving day.
From the new furniture, to some new art work, repainted pieces, and a new organizational addition or two, (I’m looking at you garment hooks behind the door!), here’s a photographic tour of his new digs.
JD and I love how the shelves came out. I love how the green pops out on the wall and with the darker wood, navy and light blue of the room.
And the lamp on the dresser, the white base with the geometric yellow shade, was my Target clearance lamp – $6 for the base and $6 for the shade!- is going to stay a bit more out of reach up there, as opposed to my original place for it, the night stand. The lamp on the nightstand is something CJ received from Santa last Christmas. So far, he hasn’t attempted to grab it or throw it, so it should be okay where it is.
These new bookshelves have been great, too. CJ is really enjoying moving the books around on the shelves, stacking them and re-stacking them. They are a great height for him and he happily plays on them. They seem to also be very durable and holding up to his dragging and placing of toys all over them.
Lastly, JD and I decided to try to use some of the other space in the room for practical organization and added two garment hooks behind the room’s door. We also replaced the hollow closet door with a louvered bifold door.
We are happy with how the room turned out and are glad to have it all set and ready as the days until D-Day dwindle down. Overall, the transition to this new setup has gone pretty well, as he is taking to his twin sized bed once we got the crib out of there. The bad news was that once he got his twin sized bed, and lost those lame crib railings, he realized how much freedom he had to roam about the room while he should have been napping. Live and learn, Mom and Dad! Oh well. But he seems to be enjoying all of the freedom and the “new” parts of his room, and so are we!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Any finished projects to share?

Looks great. I’m sure CJ will enjoy his new room and big boy bed.
Thank you! -Erin
Hi Erin
Saw Colin’s completed room. You and Jon did a great job. He’s one lucky boy. Know he’s going to enjoy it.
Love, Grandma
